What are Bodhisattvas?

Bodhisattvas are divine beings who forego Buddhahood in order to assist denizens of the earthly realm attain enlightenment. To mark their attachment to the earthly realm bodhisattva are dressed in princely garb (extravagant jewelry, rich robes, and ornate hairstyles).

Here, the Bodhisattvas are presented with their original names in Sanskrit, followed by their later names in Chinese and Japanese languages.
