Clay Bodies

Materials made to create ceramics are known as clay bodies, a collection of minerals and dirt. Earthenware, porcelain, and stoneware are the three basic types of clay bodies from which ceramic vessels are made. Ceramics are formed by heat when the silicon particles turn into glass, acting as the glue to keep the vessel together.
